After the announcement that the free tier of Google Photos was to be discontinued on June 1, 2021, the search for an alternative software solution began. The requirements were not high, but there were only extremely complex applications with high system requirements and a high range of functions.
The software, which is currently not yet in a release state, only allows compressing, downloading and displaying the images in an album overview using a PHP web server. Due to a missing database structure, the images can be uploaded to the appropriate directory and viewed immediately. Sharing using private and hidden album links is also possible. The display engine of the HTML images is based on pig.js and is extremely efficient.
There is no need to install the software. The required PHP application with Vue.js frontend can be uploaded to any web hosting service. The Progressive Web App can also be used offline. The release of the first alpha version is planned by the end of 2022.
